Despite twenty years, two amnesty decrees, and a presidential pardon, the wounds inflicted during Argentina's dirty war have recently been reopened by the revelations of a former navy officer who participated in "death flights" during the military dictatorship (1976-1983). The revelations have renewed demands from human rights organizations that the government publish a list of those who disappeared and what happened to them. Human rights groups have also renewed their demands that the Catholic Church acknowledge its complicity in abuses committed by the military.
