Honduras President Reina Continues Push for Amendment on Military Service

President Carlos Reina has made several concessions to the political opposition Partido Nacional (PN) to gain support for ratification of a constitutional amendment abolishing forced military recruitment. Although both sides deny the existence of any pact, the PN agreed to support the amendment the same day that the president disbanded a governmental commission on corruption investigating the former PN government of ex-president Rafael Callejas.
