U.S. Suspends Military Aid to Guatemala to Protest Inaction on Human Rights

The US government has suspended its remaining military aid to Guatemala as a result of that country's lack of progress in resolving human rights cases involving US citizens. The US decision was prompted partly by pressure from US citizen Jennifer Harbury, who is staging a hunger strike in front of the White House to draw attention to the Guatemalan government's failure to disclose the whereabouts of her rebel husband, missing since 1992
