Local residents and business owners in the Caribbean community of Tortuguero, whose mainstay is ecotourism, are outraged at legalized logging within what they believe to be national-park lands. However, it appears that 5,500 hectares of forest along the area's famous tree-lined canals were left out of a national-park expansion a few years ago.
