The long-delayed privatization of Nicaragua's telecommunications system and the country's largest bank is moving toward completion, but the process has encountered obstacles. Competition to purchase a controlling interest in the state-owned telecommunications company Empresa Nicaraguense de Telecomunicaciones (ENITEL) is now at the final bidding stage with five international companies competing to buy 40% of ENITEL's shares.
